Frank Felts, M.D. Dr. Frank Felts completed the undergraduate and medical program at Texas A & M University in 1983. Following graduation he began a five-year general surgery program at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He began in private practice as a general surgeon in 1988 in Jacksonville, Texas. Dr. Felts has performed a wide variety of general surgical procedures during his years in practice, but found a high level of personal satisfaction performing laparoscopy and advanced laparoscopic procedure. During his many years in practice, he noticed the association of obesity and other several medical conditions. He also recognized the struggle that most overweight people endure to lose weight and to maintain their weight loss. Dr. Felts was interested in finding a safe and effective solution to the ever-growing problem and began investigating all the procedures available. As the LAP-BAND System procedure became more and more accepted here in the United States, and the safety and effectiveness were continually proven, his interest in the procedure grew. As a colleague of Richard Benavides, M.D., one of the nation's more experienced LAP-BAND surgeons, Dr. Felts took the next step and contacted Dr. Benavides regarding the program and procedure at the American Institute of Gastric Banding (AIGB). With his extensive laparoscopic experience and skill, Dr. Felts is excited this new opportunity to transition his practice solely to the LAP-BAND System procedure. |
