After completing a Bariatric Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, he underwent further intense Lap Band surgical training at the True Results facility in Richardson, TX. His wife Tina, an IMU nurse with 17 years of experience, has since joined him. With the expansion of his practice, he has moved to a new complete bariatric office in The Woodlands, and has added a Fluoroscopic X-Ray Machine, for adjustments and pouch evaluation.
Teaching and individual counseling are the focus of their TRU-YOU T Aftercare Program. Dr. Wilkenfeld notes, "Helping individuals lose weight and become healthier is more than just placing a LAP-BAND®. Education in how to use the device is the key to their becoming successful in their weight loss experience. It's a lifetime commitment for them and us." Dr. Wilkenfeld also cares about keeping the cost of surgery to a minimum. "We try to keep their costs the lowest possible, whether they use their insurance or pay for the procedure themselves."
"I have found that the LAP-BAND® procedure is the most gratifying, life enhancing surgery that I have ever done. To see the smiles and happiness on my patient’s faces as they lose weight and also get healthier is fantastic."
