Education is key to making lasting weight loss changes in your life. First, True Results provides several educational options prior to the procedure (e.g. free local seminars, and an individual consultation with a LAP-BAND specialist). Secondly, True Results' expert physicians and staff members provide regular instruction on how to achieve and maintain your weight loss goals.
Seminars:

Individual Evaluation:
Our outstanding safety track record is a result our complete pre-operative medical evaluations. Our highly trained staff members will review your medical records and perform various tests, which may include: blood work/labs, psychological evaluations, cardiac clearance, and any other tests deemed necessary by your surgeon or healthcare professional. Our caring staff is committed to making your procedure safe and successful.
Insurance Approval:
After your first visit to one of our locations, your medical information is submitted to your insurance carrier and surgeon for review. You may submit an online insurance verification request, or explore financing options if your current insurance plan does not cover LAP-BAND surgery.
Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program:
Many insurance carriers require completion of a 3-12 month medically-supervised weight loss program before approving their clients for bariatric surgery. Our medically-supervised TrueCare program satisfies insurance carrier's approval requirements and provides you with a medically sound program that is proven to promote significant, lasting weight loss for life.
Visits with Surgeon:
All patients meet with their surgeon before weight loss surgery to verify all documentation and to schedule the date of their LAP-BAND surgery. Two to four weeks after the gastric banding procedure, patients visit with their surgeon and are asked to return every 6-12 months on a case-by-case basis.
TrueCare Program - Lap Band Surgery Aftercare:
Dr. Paul O'Brien's research shows that a key component of successful weight loss with the LAP-BAND is consistent follow-up by a team of healthcare providers. Because of this, True Results has developed TrueCare as a comprehensive follow-up program operated by highly-trained healthcare professionals and designed specifically to meet the needs of our bariatric patients. Two full years (up to $1,000) of TrueCare benefits are provided to patients who take advantage of our nationwide pre-payment discount.
TrueCare includes:
- Consultation with a nurse practitioner to review current health status, satiety and weight loss progress
- Education and support for issues regarding nutrition, proper eating mechanics, exercise, social interaction, etc.
- Adjustments to the amount of saline fluid in the LAP-BAND - providing customized levels of satiation and satiety
- Regular updates sent to your surgeon, primary care physician, or other healthcare specialists as needed
- In-person support groups
- Free access to the True Results Online Community
TrueCare Scheduling:
Our TrueCare program is tailored to meet your individual weight loss goals. Therefore, the frequency of visits is often modified to provide a customized weight loss solution catered to the needs of each patient. During the first year following LAP-BAND surgery, patients should check-in with our healthcare team at least once a month to reduce the potential for complications and to ensure the greatest possible success in losing your excess weight.
