I'm a role model now, and I couldn't be more proud.

Melissa is proud to be a role model.

I’ve maintained that 90-pound weight-loss for 5 years, and that makes me proud, but my proudest moment, by far, was when my daughter asked me if I could teach her how to eat to lose weight. She wanted to lose 15 pounds, and she knew from watching ME that it wasn’t just the band that helped me — it was that I changed the way I ate. Knowing that I can set that kind of example — that I can really be a good role model for my child — made me very, very proud.

I’m also proud to work for True Results — that I was chosen to be their very first Lap Band Advocate. I came here about a year after my procedure. Over the years I watched as True Results has risen to meet the needs of their patients and one of the moments that excited me the most was when we opened our very first after care center — going in and touring the rooms, just seeing how everything was devoted to the Lap Band patient. This is where you can come to get counseled on nutrition, exercise and portion control, to have your band adjusted, to find whatever you need as a patient. We have whole centers devoted to Lap Band patients and their after care. I’m thrilled to be a part of it.
