My Story My decision for the lap band was out of necessity. Being 6’8’’ tall already causes problems with circulation to your extremities and the 483 pounds I was carrying made it worse. My legs had begun swelling up to the point I could barely pull jeans on over my calf. When it was the worst was while driving. Having a job where I had to drive 8 to 10 hours to work made it tough. I would spend the whole time working keeping my leg elevated when possible. About the time the swelling would go away it would be time to go home and it would swell up again. Since losing the first 50 pounds, or so, my leg has not swollen up a single time. I am now to the point that I do not want to lose any more weight. A year and a half after my surgery I have lost 258 pounds and am now right around 225 pounds for the past three months. I have started eating more and find myself eating higher calorie food to maintain my weight. Not a problem I have ever had. My BMI has gone from a 53.1 to a 24.7. As you can see I am very happy with the results and would recommend the lap band surgery to anyone. |
