Your First Steps

It all starts with your individual consultation or local seminar. When you first come to a True Results bariatric center, you’ll meet with one of our Patient Advocates — a real Lap Band patient who has been exactly where you are today, and who knows all about the True Results program. Our Patient Advocates will not only help you with your paperwork, submit your insurance verification or financing information, and tell you all about the True Results program, they’re there to share their experiences and answer any questions you have — so ask!

After your initial True Results consultation and paperwork, you’ll come in for a full diagnostic evaluation. We pride ourselves on conducting the most thorough evaluation possible, and our safety track record proves it. Our highly trained team begins with a review of your medical history to ensure the Lap Band procedure is safe for you. They will check for health complications like Type 2 diabetes and hypertension; then, depending on whether your procedure is covered by insurance or you’ve decided on other payment arrangements, the team will perform a variety of diagnostic evaluations that can include:

  • Blood work/labs
  • Psychological evaluations
  • Cardiac clearance
  • Nutritional evaluations
  • Other tests deemed necessary by your surgeon or healthcare professional

If we verify that your procedure is covered by your insurance, your provider may require that you participate in a medically supervised weight-loss program prior to your procedure — it’s typically 3-6 months, but can be as many as 12, depending on the insurance provider. If you’ve decided to finance or pay cash, your only requirements are the evaluations your physician or surgeon request.

Sound complicated? Don’t worry! Your Patient Advocate is there to help.
